I went to the Edgemoor and stayed overnight for my Sons Wedding. Oh my goodness, what a fabulous place! It has character, charm and everything you could want for a very special occasion. The staff are amazing and look after your every need with a smile. Watching my Son get married was made very special by the Hotel and it's Managers and Staff. Many, many thanks to you all x
My Son had his wedding here and it was amazing. The staff were so helpful couldn't do enough to make the day special. The food was lovely and the rooms were spacious and clean. The setting of the old school in a quite location on the edge of dartmoor was beautiful. I would recommend this place for a wedding venue or a nice weekend stay around dartmoor and they have a fantastic range of gins .

A fabulous Inn with first class food. The rooms were super-comfortable & spotlessly clean with beds made up every day & coffee & teas replenished as needed. Every member of staff treated us as if we were the only ones staying, with absolute attention to detail & all happy to engage in a warm & welcoming manner. If you're looking for somewhere quiet to relax with scrumptious food & excellent service this is the place. Thank you all. And don't forget to read the visitors book which goes back to 1902! A priceless insight into travelling & holidaying people over a century +.
Lovely place to eat. Nice friendly, smiley and efficient staff. Fairly reasonably priced, but portions a bit on the small size compared to other places where we eat out locally. I'd say this was more gastro-pub than your usual pub food. The food however is excellent, its not always quantity over quality, if they made the portions a bit bigger it would be a 5* as the food was so good we were left wanting more... Overall highly recommended.

A great evening and night to celebrate my 65th Birthday. The tasting menu plus accompanying wine flight was excellent and our room was comfortable and restful. Our standard poodle was made welcome by all and she enjoyed meeting most of the staff! This is our "go to hotel" for family occasions and a relaxing time. The spar and pool have developed over the years and my 20 lengths before dinner were vital in getting me ready to eat well. Try it!
We always have an amazing stay at Ilsington! And have been 3 times now and wouldn't go anywhere else. The spa facilities are really good, as well as general hotel facilities. Breakfast is really tasty and a wide range of food is available too. Highly recommend!

Nothing to complain about. Food was good. Would I return? In 6 months, yes. Why? Busy refurbishing and all the old character is gone with only a vast open space remaining. I wish the new owners all the very best. They have one of the best locations in the UK on their doorstep so will never be short of custom. Please just put some character back so that your locals can also still enjoy your premises.
Lovely friendly place. Staff are a credit and dog friendly too! We called in on the way back from a climbing morning and were welcomed in with a smile despite two kids and two dogs. Food excellent (not cheap). Couldn't fault it at all well worth a stop. Car park a little small and some work being done but excellent all the same.

Yvonne was amazing! Food is delicious great choice of cider. 5 star service matched with 5 star smiles from the staff. Dog friendly.
Good beer, good food reasonably priced (Oct 2017) Update 21/04/2018 New management now evident.....lunchtime meal for 4 (2 x pastie and chips, 1 panini, 1 mixed meat platter) was slow to arrive and only just adequate in quality. Reasonable prices though. Room for improvement.

Good breakfast. Friendly staff. Clean room. A bit pricey I thought for the size of room. The decor was a little dated but we enjoyed our stay.
Stayed here with friends for a weekend walking on the moor. We were met with a friendly mix of warmth and hospitality from locals and staff alike. You will find a bar stocked with great local ales and an extensive menu that wont break the bank. Looking forward to coming back again next year.

A cosy, quaint place to stay, like stepping back in time. We had a fantastic week in the cottage and look forward to returning one day. The owners were warm and friendly and very helpful with lots of knowledge of the area (like walks, places to eat and visit etc) supplied. Loved all the little touches too like the food hamper on arrival. All in all a wonderful week! Thank you for the memories.
Great holiday cottage. Fantastic village. Super holiday

Great location directly on the moor. We stayed in The Hayloft, really well equipped and nicely set out. A lovely view from the dining table all the way to the sea on clear days. You can walk up to Haytor visitor centre within minutes, the rock, however, can take a little longer. Would throughly recommend and hope to return.

If you would like something truly different you might like to have a look at Airbnb. These are mostly B and Bs provided by people on a very informal basis. The may have a spare room, a yurt, a cottage or a barge with space they can receive guests for a night or a month! The website is highly professional. You can really see what you are going to get. Very well worth a look. Airbnb also show 'conventional' B&Bs as well. Enjoy!

I wanted a simple quiet campsite where I could camp with my motorcycle and read a book by a camp fire. Five Wyches is exactly that. I went in August and there were other campers but plenty of space and no feeling of being crowded. Sarah was super friendly, helpful and full of great local advice. The town nearby has everything you need and I found the Cromwell Arms to be friendly and serve a good pint. I would highly recommend and will return. I would also recommend to families looking to escape suburban or city hustle and bustle.
Quiet campsite, close to lovely woodland riverside walks. Lovely 🤗
