Ashburton Local - Shopping around Bovey Tracey

I can't rate this salon highly enough. I was given some vouchers which I used to go towards a hot stone massage, it reduced all the tension in my back, and I left feeling really relaxed. When you walk in there is a great sense of calm, however bad your day has been. I gave my mother in law one of the packages for a gift which she loved. The staff are friendly and professional and it is so convenient that it has it's own private car park so you can park right outside the premises.

What an absolute gem of a salon. There is a great range of treatments and at prices to suit all. I had an hour long facial that left me feeling great - it was an experience I will most definitely be repeating for myself and encouraging friends to do to. Am looking forward to trying some of the other treatments on my next trip down to Bovey.

The guys at West Country Trimmers did a first rate job of making and fitting a complete new carpet set and relining the hardtop on my TR6. They offered good advice on the choice of carpet and I am really pleased with with the colour match & fitting.

I shopped here for a specialist part for my car. The gentleman who served me identified the old part (an early Land Rover windscreen wiper) as soon as I entered the shop, even though it had been modified for use on my Caterham. He was attentive and knowledgable and as an added bonus the price was substantially less than I was expecting.

Had my Range Rover Sport recovered to Mike Harding with a blown turbo. Joe the mechanic diagnosed the problem and a course of action was agreed. I was kept informed of progress throughout the process and was very pleased with the outcome. Would highly recommend Mike Harding and his gang, they know what they are talking about and were very pleasant to deal with.

Fantastic after sales. I bought a 5 year old Range Rover from Ollie I then reported a suspension knock and vibration under braking both of which were not covered under the warranty plan. I mailed Ollie who came straight back to me and offered a solution we were both happy with. This is what great customer service is when you look after customers when they have purchased not only during a sale. Thanks to all I will definitely buy my next car from them even though it was a 300 mile round trip.

I part exchanged my Range Rover for this wonderful Mercedes CLS250. I found the car to at very fair price, as I usually by privately. Rob was very knowledgeable and straight forward. As I was a few hours away he took the trouble to send me 4 'wahtapp' videos showing the entire car. I described my Range Rover & we had the workings of a deal on the phone. I decided to put a portion on finance, Rob was able to knock the APR down a little. Once there we ironed out the details and I'm now the owner of a great car. I would highly recommend this garage, all the cars seemed be of a very high standard. I will be returning to them for my next one!

These guys are stars. We went to them after the car developed a worrying clonking noise in the Devon lanes, and despite being incredibly busy they made time to sort us out. Recommended!

What a fantastic find! You will not be disappointed! Fun for all the family and so many different things packed into one place. We first enjoyed a really lovely meal in the restaurant - great food and friendly staff. Good kids menu and activity sheet. Then we enjoyed a good few hours looking round the marble museum, games museum, pottery museum, working glass works, and then there are 3 shops. Such fun things to look at. A hidden gem!!

Visited the House Of Marbles many times especially when I was younger. It made for a great family day out, whether your local or not. Collecting of the marbles is a memorable thing to do with younger children. Going back and visiting something I enjoyed as a kid is also a great experience which I would recommend to everyone. Would also like to make a huge thank you to the staff. After a complication, staff were so helpful and polite. Felt so welcomed throughout the whole stay. From the customer sales advisors to the staff in the restaurant to first aid that, which I would like to make a massive thank you.

Lovely, lovely shop and the ladies are very helpful Wanted to stay longer but was with other people, so had to cut visit short. Next time will come on my own! Keep up the good work, we need more shops like this.

A very calm place. Lovely exhibits and set in an atmosphere appropriate to show them. Price is reflective of the environment, however, you can be rewarded with unusual finds for those difficult to buy for. Tea room upstairs serves great scones too.

What a super place this is to have a coffee (or a delicious lunch!) and browse amongst a huge selection of high quality, original art and craft items, many by local people. The building, (next to the Co-op in the middle of Bovey Tracey), is a delight in itself, featuring a roof terrace incorporating a green "living roof". Not to be missed!

A local gold mine - so helpful too! If they haven't got it, they might well be able to get it!

We are visiting family in Devon and they brought us here today. What a beautiful place! The afternoon tea and cakes are beautifully made and full of flavour. We loved the gardens and our son loved the fish. Staff were so friendly and chatty. This will be a regular visit for us when we visit x

Beautiful place to spend a few hours. Driving range, putting area, pitch and putt and a lovely golf course too. You can even play football golf on the pitch and putt. The prices are excellent so all the family join in. Plus there's a lovely cafe to rest in afterwards with yummy cakes and a cuppa, happy golfing folks! 😊😊

Bovey is a well presented 9 hole golf course with challenging par 3s and 2 long par 5s. Good food and drink available in the club house and a warm and friendly welcome for golfers and non golfers alike.

Lovely little store. Free parking and free to use cash machine. Staff are so helpful and friendly.

What an amazing house in an amazing setting. The bathrooms were huge and stunning. I was there as a hairdresser doing hair for a wedding. So much space everywhere. I would love to hire this as a wedding venue.

We had a wonderful stay at Yarner House. The room (Silver Suite) was furnished to a very high standard and had a wonderful large Moroccan bath overlooking the window. The house is just inside Dartmoor with panoramic views for miles around and very close to walks, attractions (e.g. Becky Falls, Haytor Rocks) and great pubs/restaurants. Lily and her mum were perfect hosts and provided a delicious breakfast every morning. There is also a kitchen and lounge available for self-catering. Highly recommended for a relaxing break, and we would definitely return.

We cannot recommend Jules enough. Before our wedding she went out of her way to meet us, get to know us, and find out what kind of photos we were hoping for. On the day Jules was super friendly with everyone, incredibly patient with our awkwardness in front of the camera, and did not stop for a second. She also managed to somehow blend in and catch everyone unawares for the all important 'action' shots. As for the photos... we LOVE them! They perfectly capture the laid back, natural vibe we had asked for. Thank you Jules!

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Rockrose photography. We had a pre wedding shoot on a beautiful beech which was great for getting to know Jules and making us feel at ease on the big day. We wanted a really relaxed feel to our wedding photography with minimal time spent taking formal shots. Jules and Cara were very subtle and captured the day beautifully, coming up with great ideas along the way for example some beautiful shots in the rain after sunset using light. We were sent a lovely presentation box containing a sample of the pics and a memory stick which was a special finishing touch. We were so happy to have Jules and Cara part of our special day thank you! Lauren & Joe x

Wow, wow, wow. What a truly magical and amazing venue. Totally private for you and your guests, however many you have! Drive through the gates and be transported to the wonderful world which can only be Colehayes. I have been to several weddings and this venue was by far the most show stopping. Beautiful gardens, stunning house, more than enough space, fabulous accommodation, great staff etc etc. Whatever you are looking for in a venue, you will definitely find it here. I can not recommend it enough. My only regret is that I didn’t know about Colehayes before our big day! I would have stopped looking at other venues the moment I viewed it!

This place is AMAZING!! I've been lucky enough to attend two weddings here and have also stayed in the holiday cottage with my family. Each visit was superb and I wouldn't have changed a thing. As a wedding venue, the main house strikes a balance between grandeur and warmth. Each of the weddings I attended were personalised in different ways to create a magical atmosphere. The cottage is a well sized holiday home in the garden which was great for our family holiday. The grounds of the estate and the surrounding landscapes are simply beautiful, with loads of nice hiking routes to explore. I couldn't recommend Colehayes any higher and I'm now just waiting for my next chance to visit.

Wonderful choice of cheese and very vegetarian friendly. Simply the best customer service I’ve ever come across from an online retailer when delivery went slightly wrong - very much the personal touch!

We ordered a cake of cheese for our wedding and were blown away by the professional service and amazing cheese. We were able to order a sample box beforehand which was a great help as we live abroad. The cake was delivered the day before our wedding - so one less thing for us to worry about! Our guests commented on the great taste and quality of the cheeses. Thank you!
